Growing up, I would spend entire summers at Beach 3 on Lake Barcroft. I would bask in the sun and play in the sand for hours! I would never want to leave from Memorial Day to Labor Day . We had several birthday parties there and as a child, I remember how awesome it was to spend countless days getting wrinkly fingers and sand in my bathing suit and even having the fish swim right up to you to say 'hi' (THEY STILL DO!)
This last weekend, I went home to Lake Barcroft and spent the weekend on the beach with some of my closest friends of 17 years and their kids. As a parent, I now realize how nice and easy it is to bring your kids to the beach (and probably why my parents did it all the time). It's weird (in a totally amazing way!) to see your life come full circle as you see the next generation enjoy the things that you loved so dearly about your childhood. Lake Barcroft will always have such a special place in my heart! I hope to spend many more summer days there.
